Welcome to My First House!

It’s a dream come true!  I’ve graduated college, found a job and bought a house!  And the best part about it is that this house is so spectacular that I can do anything to it and it wouldn’t go down in value at all!  That’s my happy way of saying, this house needs work!  Nothing is too serious or too difficult; there are just a lot of little things.

Background

My parents were with me looking at houses the first time we found this house.  They loved it because it was built by the Wood Brothers, the company that built their first home.  And sure enough, I live across the street and next door to houses of the same model of my parents’ first house!

Shortly after my offer was accepted, my boyfriend Paul and I got up early in the morning and took a walk around my new neighborhood.  I decided that my house was the ugliest house in the neighborhood, which is actually great news!  The value can only go up, with improvements and maintenance.

Just a week before closing on my house, Paul’s company held a drawing to sell off all the furniture and home necessities in their company apartment.  Anyone willing to pay $2000 for everything in the apartment could enter the drawing.  Paul entered, and won!  So I now had more than enough furniture.  The only problem was, it had to be out by Monday, July 24th.  My closing wasn’t until Tuesday, July 25th.  So we had to get the furniture out only to move it a few days later!  Luckily, my friend Rick happens to have a giant trailer, big enough for all the furniture!

From the company apartment, the furniture included a dining set, a coffee table, two side tables, two couches with pull-out beds, two twin beds, a futon, a King sized bed, sheet sets, towels, shower curtains and bathroom accessories, pots and pans, silverware, plates and glasses, a coffee maker, a toaster, a rice cooker and still more!
